Botto Guiseppe visit Bogo

In early March we enjoyed hosting Silvio Botto Poalo and Miki Ferrarone from Botto Guiseppe, Biella Italy. Silvio and Miki had recently purchased 55 bales of wool produced by the Bogo flock at Springfield. Their desire to visit us in person was driven by the specs of the wool being some of the best they had ever purchased.

They were amazed by the test results of our clip which was a six-month shearing with the wool growth period being late March 2022 to early October 2022.

Our 5 fleece lines achieved the following results:

Micron = 17.9 to 18.4

CVD = 17.7 to 19

CF = 99.3 to 99.6

VM = 0.1 to 0.3

Yield = 74.1 to 76.1%

SL = 79 to 91mm

SS = 54 to 60N

Our 2 lines of pieces were half a micron finer than the fleece had VM of 0.4, yield of 72.4%, SL of 76 and SS of 49N

These wools made a significant premium to other wools in the market that week. The wool broker found them very hard to value because there was nothing else recently sold that could compare. Botto Guiseppe was proud to be the purchaser and were happy to pay the premium due to the quality and the attached RWS certification that accompanied the consignment. They told us the demand for fabric and clothing with high animal welfare and environmental credentials was ever increasing. Buyers want traceability and an understanding of our production systems. A big segment of the market will now only buy non mulesed wool. Bogo and Botto Guiseppe are both keen to develop our relationship going forward.
